Sprouting from the depths of the earth, warm and crystalline, is one of the greatest riches of Santa Catarina. They are thermal springs comparable to the world's best, and which attract thousands of visitors to the resorts built for their enjoyment. Many people come seeking only leisure and relaxation, others to cure what ails them. The therapeutic qualities of these waters - with temperatures of about 100º F, help to heal rheumatism, arthritis, stomach, intestinal and skin problems, fatigue, insomnia and worn nerves.

The main springs in Santa Catarina are equipped with complete tourist infrastructure, offering a peaceful atmosphere for those that seek a cure for their ills, or simply delicious moments of relaxation and peace. The outstanding springs are at Gravatal, Águas Mornas and Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, near the coast and Piratuba, Águas de Chapecó, Palmitos and São Carlos, in the western part of the state. There are also many small thermal springs spread through the state, visited by tourists from across the country and even abroad. They are a natural and healthy complement to the privileged geography with which the region was blessed.
